9 January 2012- Tesco donation - Falcon Footballers are a flaming success

Goal hungry players at Suffolk Football club will be tucking into barbecues for the next two years – thanks to a donation from local Tesco store.

Stowupland Falcons near Stowmarket are renowned for their fund-raising family barbecue events.

But a fire last September ruined all their barbeque equipment for their annual food tent events.

Now the boss of the towns Tesco superstore, Tim Gillam has turned up the heat and donated two new BBQ’s plus £2,000 to allow the club to buy their barbecue goodies – for two years until 2013.

Store manager, Tim Gillam of the Tesco Superstore on Gun Cotton Way presented the Stowupland Falcons Chairman with the donation as a pledge of support to its local football Club over the next two years.

Tim said: “We are proud to support the Stowupland Falcons Football Club with the £2,000 donation in gifts cards and two barbecues and see this initiative as part of our on-going commitment to the local community.  The football club does fantastic work with the children in the local area.  This donation will enable the club to go on and raise even more funds for the club.”

Chairman of Stowupland Falcons, Ian Wearing said: “Every little helps.  This donation enables us to work together as a team and maximise fundraising efforts for the club as well as providing our own hospitality to visiting teams and our supporters.  The new barbecues will replace our old equipment which is now considered unsafe to use following a recent fire at signing day back in September.”

The store opens every Monday to Friday 6am until midnight, Saturday 6am until 10pm and Sunday 10am until 4pm. The petrol station opening hours are Monday to Saturday 6am until 10pm and Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
